Format: Talk (15 min); Mindfulness Practice (20 min); Q & A (15 min)

Description:

Self-care is vital for building resilience toward the stressors in life that we can't eliminate. When we take the steps to care for your mind and body, we can find ease and joy even in the most difficult of times. Unfortunately, however, many people view self-care as a luxury, rather than a priority. Consequently, we’re left feeling overwhelmed, tired, and ill-equipped to handle life's inevitable challenges. Join JoAnna for a bit of self care time.  We’ll slow down, take some breaths and allow our minds to take a little mid-day break.

Bio:

JoAnna Hardy has been exploring and practicing multiple traditions since 1999. In 2005, her focus landed on Buddhism and Vipassana meditation, which is the premise for most of her current teaching. She teaches; adult and teen weeklong silent retreats, day longs and weekly classes, is on faculty at the University of Southern California (USC) and is the co-author of Teaching Mindfulness to Empower Adolescents. Helping communities and individuals that don’t typically have access to the traditional dharma settings and building multicultural community is top on her list of priorities. She is co-founder of Meditation Coalition and is on the teacher’s council of Spirit Rock Meditation Center.

This video includes the talk and instructions for the mindfulness practice. The Q & A section of the workshop is not included.
