Postdoctoral Fellow Trent Walker’s New Book, “Until Nirvana’s Time,” Is Out Now!

Until Nirvana's Time cover

Trent Walker’s new book, Until Nirvana’s Time, is now available through Shambhala Publications. It is the first collection of traditional Cambodian Buddhist poetry published in English and presents original translations of forty-five texts along with extensive notes and essays. Sung in daily prayers or all-night rituals of healing, mourning, and consecration, these Dharma songs have guided Khmer-speaking communities in Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam for generations.

The Khyentse Foundation will organize a virtual book launch event, Singing the Dharma in Cambodia: A Conversation on Until Nirvana’s Time, on January 14 at 5pm PST. Along with live recitation of Khmer chants and English translations from Until Nirvana’s Time, the author and Dr. Anand Venkatkrishnan’s conversation will engage the aesthetics of religious songs, the complexities of their transmission, and the contributions of Cambodian voices to the history of Buddhist literature.
