Best Undergraduate Paper in  Buddhist Studies 2015–16 entitled “Emergent Dharma: Buddhist Board Games, Past and Present” by Jackson Roach, (Senior, class of 2017), Comparative Literature

Board games have a rich history within various Buddhist traditions, as pedagogical tools and as means of religious practice. This paper provides a brief survey of Buddhist board games and their designers. In addition, the paper describes a new game designed by the author, which attempts to illuminate Buddhist principles via interaction design and emergent gameplay.
