Meeting Description: 

Professor David Jonathan (Jon) Felt will introduce a draft of a chapter from his upcoming book project on geographic writing in early medieval China. The project project includes notions of regionalism within China, perceptions of the natural environment, and reevaluations of the traditional Sino-centric worldviews. He has already published articles on the conceptualization of emotions in the Jiankang court (in Early Medieval China Journal) and a historicizing of the concept of Northern and Southern Dynasties (in T'oung Pao)​. Felt is an assistant professor of Chinese History at Brigham Young University. He earned his BA from BYU, his MA from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and his PhD from Stanford University in 2014.
